Regular Events

Wednesdays Devizes Children’s Choir

On Wednesdays from 4.30 to 5.30pm the Devizes Children’s Choir takes place at the Baptist Church Hall Sheep Street. This is a children’s community choir for children from Year 1 upwards. They have been running for just under a year and their aim is to sing for fun and to go out and about in the community. The team sings at local events in the community, and at places like care homes. There are currently 24 children but would like to increase their numbers into their second year. For more information or to get involved call Heather Flower on 01380 722013.

Thursdays Salsa

The Devizes Salsa Classes on a Thursday Night have moved! They are now at Needham House in Victoria Road, so pop along for the best Salsa fun in town, 7.30pm on Thursday evenings.

Saturdays Slimming World

Every Saturday at 9am and 11am, pop along to Slimming World at the Nursteed Centre. Lose weight and feel great. Join the gang and make new friends whilst receiving some great support to help you lose weight.

First Saturday Each Month Wiltshire Farmers Market

On the first Saturday of the month it's the Wiltshire Farmers Market. It takes place in the Market Square, Devizes from 9am 'til 1pm with local artisan food, crafts and top quality goods available to purchase directly from the producers.


Tue 18 Sep A Day At The Queen's Garden Party

The 7.30 p.m. Ladies Evening Group is back at St Andrew's Church on Tuesday the 18th of September. This time there will be a presentation by Pauline Hawkins telling about her visit to Buckingham Palace with her husband, Mick. The ladies are positive that Pauline took her camera, so this is your chance to see her pictures and hear all about this special day.

The Ladies Evening Group meets on the 1st & 3rd Tuesdays of the month at at 7.30pm. All ladies are very welcome - you don't have to join the group.

Fri 21 Sep Cracked Machine & The Compact Pussycat

At The Lamb Inn, St Johns St, Live Realm is bringing the best upcoming bands and musicians to you in conjunction with Vinyl Realm Music Shop.

Experience the vibrant and uniqueness that is The Compact Pussycat, the wotn's very own top notch local Indie band, destined to rock the stars! Salamander brings 'punk baroque' style acoustic eccentricity, combining simple strumming techniques with swooping melodies and lyrical intrigue. Then finish the evening in style, with the unmistakable sound of Cracked Machine, fresh from Psyka Festival in Germany. Absorb yourself in their uber addictive psychedelic rock!

Sun 23 Sep Songs of Praise

Churches Together in Devizes present Songs of Praise at the The Wharf at 3.00 p.m. on Sunday the 23rd of September 2018. Celebrate Creation and the Environment with musicians from local churches, refreshments will be available at The Wharf Tea Rooms. For more information or to get involved, call Alisia Davies on 01380 699488.

24-29 Sep Snake In The Grass

Snake In The Grass is a 2002 play by British playwright Alan Ayckbourn. A stunning, eerie thriller with enough dialogue to keep the laughs interspersing the gasps.

Tickets are £12, £10 for concessions, and they can be purchased from the website or at the Devizes Community Hub and Library on Sheep Street.


Fri 12 Oct Doozer McDooze & Chris Webb

Sheer Music Presents Doozer McDooze and more, on Friday the 12th of October at The Lamb.

Continuing the Sheer Music autumn programme in Devizes, they are delighted to welcome back last year's Christmas show surprise package, DOOZER MCDOOZE. Marking his first headline show in the town, Doozer (aka Paul Short) will bring his abrupt, upbeat folk punk to The Lamb in St Johns Street. Promising some serious, but often comedic, political folk punk songs for fans of The Levellers, New Model Army, Gaz Brookfield, and the like.

Support comes from Chris Webb, making a welcome return to Devizes, and opening the gig is a local chap, and friend of Fantasy Radio, Vince Bell. He's been doing some great stuff recently including performing at the Month of Sundays in Hillworth Park.

Sat 20 Oct Autumn Fayre

It's the St Andrew's Church Autumn Fayre on Saturday the 20th of October, from 10am. to 12 noon. Their popular annual event with various stalls, the tombola, raffle and refreshments. Free entry with something for all the family! For more information call Cynthia on Devizes 726 373

27-28 Oct Monster Trail

The very scary Worton Monster Trail takes place on the 27th and 28th of October, at Worton Village Hall. It's a family friendly monster-themed scarecrow trail. Come and wander around the village to find the monsters malingering in the gardens and try to guess who they are. Prizes will be given for the most correct guesses drawn at random. It's just £2 per person entry fee, and the trail starts from the village hall, running from 11am - 4pm


Sat 3 Nov Reflections on WWI

At St Andrew's Church on Saturday the 3rd of November, it's Reflections on WWI.

Songs and poetry, together with narrative from local and national history from the period, in commemoration of the Armistice. There will be an interval, where it is rumoured that Trench Cake will be on offer. Free entry - the church welcomes everyone to just come along, for 2.30pm on Saturday the 3rd of November.

10-11 Nov WW1 Centenary Exhibition

On the 10th and 11th of November there's a World War One exhibition taking place at Worton Village Hall. It's an exhibition of family stories from the time of WW1 to commemorate 100 years since the end of the war.
The village hall will also be decorated inside and out with a display of 1918 knitted poppies. The village hall will be open from 11am - 4pm and entry is free.

Tue 13 Nov James Holland Lecture

Devizes Lions are delighted that James Holland has agreed to speak on his new book "Big Week".

James Holland is a historian, writer, and broadcaster, who regularly appears on television and radio, and has written and presented the BAFTA shortlisted documentaries, Battle of Britain and Dam Busters for the BBC, as well as the Battle for Malta, Cold War, Hot Jets, and Normandy 44. He has his own collection at the Imperial War Museum, and is Fellow of the Royal Historical Society.

James' talk takes place on Tuesday the 13th of November at 7.30pm at St Mary's Church, New Park Street Devizes. For more information contact or pop into Devizes Books.

Fri 30 Nov Lantern Parade & Christmas Festival

Attracting crowds of over to 3,500 and celebrating the start of the festive season, The Lantern Parade and Christmas Festival boasts one of the region’s most spectacular lantern processions. A river of hundreds of beautiful creations, made by our talented local participants wind its way through the town, collect Father Christmas en-route and arrive back in the Market Place for the Devizes Christmas Lights switch on. Christmas Markets run all day in the Market Place and the Corn Exchange to help get you into the festive spirit. Friday the 30th of November, with events taking place across town.


Sat 8 Dec Christmas Bazaar

The Worton & Marston Village Hall holds its traditional Christmas Bazaar on Saturday the 8th of December, with stalls run by local village groups. Gifts, festive food, jams and preserves, toys and games all on offer, a raffle and refreshments too, with all proceeds going towards village hall funds.
